Emma, The Writer--January 19, 2010

This Tuesday, January 19th, 2010, Emma was awarded 3rd place in the category of 6th-8th grade Literature, Inspirations Art Program. The theme was "The Power of One." Here is what Emma wrote in answer to these questions on her cover sheet for her story: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO DO THIS PROJECT? "First I thought about the old times like pioneer days for the setting of my story and brainstormed it down to a piece of paper. Then I got these other ideas and put them all together and started writing..."
HOW DOES THIS PROJECT RELATE TO THE INSPIRATIONS TMEME FOR 2009-2010? "One person saving a soldier's life who can save many lives after wards."

Emma and Jonathan @ Timpview Highschool After Emma's Great Win

EMMA--LEADING THE PACK!--Yesterday, January 23, was another busy day in the life of Emma. Luckily, she loves to juggle many activities at the same time. Emma and her friend, Nancy, from orchestra, and classmate, spent all morning and then some at our house test tasting various freshly boiled chicken eggs to see if it made a difference in the taste whether the chickens were fed garlic, onion, or just regular feed. I can report that it does indeed make a big difference. Further lab results may be reported as Emma and Nancy finish their science project. Then, having her belly full of eggs, it was off to Timpview Highschool where Emma was to play against Canyon Crest Elementary. There, possibly aided by all the egg in her tummy, Emma played a great game, scoring, stealing the ball, doing several fast breaks, all in all being a star player showing signs of a future Krista in the making. And they won 20-6. Yeah, go Freedom! Did I mention that Emma's team, the Saturday before, on Jonathan's 16th birthday, won 30-6. It sure is fun to win.

Sixteen years ago, my big boy, whom I call "Min Lille Skat" meaning = " My Little Darling" was born. He was just a little tiny scrawny baby with the biggest hands and the longest feet. Today, he still has the biggest hands and the longest feet. How I love him. And tomorrow, even more importantly, min lille Skat will be ordained a priest. As he, himself pointed out, "I will be able to baptize." I am so proud of him.

Emma's Basketball Season 2010

Saturday, January 9, 2010.
Well I was going to post these amazing pictures of Emma's three fast breaks and other amazing stuff she did during her first basketball game of the season. Only I was too busy cheering her and her team that I totally forgot. I'll leave it up to everybody's imagination. Amazingly, it was a pretty close game even though Emma's team had never practiced or met before, and the other team had practiced before and were about twice the size of Emma's team. They lost 19-16.

THE BEGINNING

I am going to start my blog with a very special day. December 23rd, 2009 Emma went to the temple for the first time and did baptism for the dead for her ancestors. This was also the very first time all of us as a family were doing temple ordinances together. Emma had chosen the Salt Lake Temple because Flemming and I were married there, so this made it extra special. Also, this day marked the four-year anniversary for Emma's baptism on Joseph Smith's 200th birthday. Wow, could this day be anymore special? After wards, we went to temple square and the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
